MAKE A JOURNEY COUNT
- KHUSHI SHARMA, BAP/20/342
When thinking of the word
‘celebrity’ you may think of people such as Kardashians, Miley Cyrus, or Justin
Bieber. These celebrities might not have the best reputation or be able to be
considered role models.
Some celebrities most
certainly fit into either one of these categories, however, when in the world’s
spotlight, many celebrities develop a poor reputation.
I don’t believe celebrities
should be idolized or worshipped as much as they are; however, some of them
have achieved great things which indeed make them a role model or even a hero
to some.
The question “should celebrities be considered a role model?” actually raises a better question that must be answered first: should anyone be placed on a pedestal and regarded as a role model to another?
However, this is how they
become defined as role models: by the way they handle failure and hardships.
Those in limelight do not always choose to be role models and honestly, it
isn’t in their job description to do so.
Hence, their main job is to
entertain the crowd, signed to be role models, neither good nor bad. I believe
that our parents should be the real role model in our lives. People in our
society need to focus on themselves and gradually, will take place.
On that note, I would rather
be looking up to someone with a positive approach and influence, and not just
being arduous to choose wisely!
